Requesting Grievance Hearing

The regulations only give individuals placed on the Child Abuse Central Index (CACI) 30 days from the date notice is sent to request a grievance hearing.  DCFS often waits several days or even weeks to mail out the notice of your right to a grievance hearing.  So it is important to look at the date on the letter to determine when the 30 days started running.   It is important to keep the post marked envelope that the notice of CACI listing came in to ensure that you have an accurate record of when the notice was actually sent out.
